“SWIRLING FLOWERS”

Inspired by a tanka poem by the renown poet Yosano Akiko (1878 - 1942) describing the beautiful cherry blossom trees in front of Tocen Goshoboh. 

“A snowstorm of cherry blossom petals swirling in the sky and veiling both Hyoei and Goshoboh.”

The poem describes the beautiful scenery of swirling petals that look like snow flakes. It is about spring, hope, new begining and beauty.  In fact, it makes the reader depict the political tone of that period. The big changes during the war and what led to the new japan.
